Semi truck and train damaged in collision involving trailer full of rocks

A semi truck and a train were damaged after the two vehicles collided in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon. 

The incident occurred on January 15th near Aurora, Colorado just after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of E. Colfax Avenue and N. Peterson Road between Watkins and Bennett. 

According to Denver 7, the semi truck was heading north when it was hit by the eastbound train. The train struck the back half of the tractor trailer, causing the trailer to detach and overturn. 

The train did not derail in the crash, but did sustain some damage to the front end. The truck was hauling rocks at the time of the crash, which were scattered across the crash scene. 

The truck driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Traffic impacts were minor. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
