Truck stop evacuated when potentially hazardous load catches fire

A truck stop was evacuated on Thursday night after a potentially hazardous load caught fire in the parking lot. 

The incident happened at about 10 p.m. on Thursday night, October 23rd at the Flying J Truck Stop on Highway 62 in Orange, Texas. 

According to 12 News Now, firefighters were called to the scene when smoke was seen coming from a trailer loaded with a sulfur and carbon mixture. Firefighters arrived and determined that the fire could lead to a hazardous situation.

The truck stop was evacuated, Highway 62 was shut down, and all other semi trucks parked in the area were moved to a different location. Firefighters attended to the situation throughout the night, keeping the container cool with water while awaiting further instructions. Firefighters stayed on the scene until it was determined that the sulfur-carbon mixture was no longer a threat. 

No injuries were reported in the incident. No further information on the potentially hazardous situation has been released.
