A truck driver is dead after being crushed by a load of steel during the unloading process on Thursday.
The accident happened on Wednesday, February 5th at Lippert Components in Goshen, Indiana at about 9:40 a.m.
According to South Bend Tribune, 36-year-old Milos Jovanovic was at the plant to deliver a load of steel tubing. During the unloading process, he was hit by a bundle of steel tubing weighing about 5,000 pounds, which struck his entire body.
Jovanovic was then transported by medics to a nearby airfield for a med flight, but was pronounced dead at the airfield. Goshen Police arrived at the scene of the accident about 45 minutes later.
Police have not specified whether Jovanovic, employees at Lippert, or both were involved in the unloading process. The plant previously submitted to an inspection in August 2023 for a health concern.
Jovanovic was working for a trucking company out of Chicago. No further information has been released.
