Trucker plans to just invest $7.5M in lottery winnings

A truck driver says he’ll keep on driving after a multi-million dollar lottery win in California earlier this year.

Trucker Joel McCauley says he bought the winning scratch off ticket at Liquor, Tobacco & More on Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View, California, just like he does every morning.

This time, McCauley knew he had won something, but didn’t realize it was such a huge prize until he double checked his winnings through the California Lottery App, reported KRON4.

“At first, I thought it was $7,500,” he said of the ticket, but as soon as the app confirmed it was $7.5 million “I turned my truck around and took the ticket home to leave it there.”

After that, McCauley says he just went on to work as if nothing had happened.

McCauley says he has won “10K a couple of times” throughout his 20 years of buying scratch off tickets, but this is the largest prize he has claimed. He says he plans to simply invest his winnings and continue trucking for a living.
