145 jobs lost as Tennessee freight company closes its doors

145 people will lose their jobs by the end of the month as a Tennessee freight company closes its doors.

Smoky Mountain Logistics in Lebanon, Tennessee will shut down on February 28th, causing 145 people to lose their jobs, including truck drivers. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification was filed with the US Department of Labor on January 12th.

According to The Tennessean, the freight company is located at 1000 Richard Petty Way, and the affected workers are not represented by any collective bargaining agreement and senior employees are not protected by any bumping rights. Smoky Mountain Logistics worked largely with Amazon, reported News Channel 5.

Mass layoffs in Tennessee rose over 20% from 2024 to 2025, and have increased by more than 139% since 2021.
