Arizona DOT issues ‘HEAVY’ traffic warning for I-10 as new Buc-ee’s expected to draw tens of thousands

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) warned drivers to plan ahead for major traffic delays on I-10 as a new Buc-ee’s store opens in Goodyear.

At 6 a.m. on Monday, June 22, a new Buc-ee’s store will open in Goodyear, Arizona, bringing with it Beaver Nuggets, brisket sandwiches, and slow travel conditions in the area.

ADOT said that the “anticipation and excitement will also bring HEAVY traffic on I-10 in Goodyear both at and near Bullard Avenue.”

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the new Goodyear Buc-ee’s in the first week, officials said.

ADOT recommended that drivers who are not making the pilgrimage to the Buc-ee’s (including truckers, who are generally not welcome to park), should select alternate routes away from Bullard Ave.

“Motorists also should expect freeway ramp closures in the area at times. Law enforcement officers will be on site to let drivers know that parking along freeways, including shoulders, is not permitted,” ADOT said in a news release.
