Fourteen arrested for immigration violations during ICE commercial vehicle operation in Texas

The week, Texas law enforcement agencies partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a commercial vehicle enforcement operation in Wichita County.

On August 3, 2026, ICE joined forces with the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) for a detail called “The Heat Is On.”

During the operation, officers inspected dozens of commercial vehicles and drivers for compliance along Highway 287 between Iowa Park and Electra, according to Wichita County Sheriff William Rutledge.

As part of the operation, deputies and Texas DPS Weights and Measurements units stopped 78 vehicles.

Of the stopped vehicles, 67 were commercial vehicles and 11 were passenger vehicles.

Authorities detained 14 individuals for immigration violations. Countries of origin include Uzbekistan, India, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Mexico, WCSO said.

Additionally, five semi trucks were impounded as part of the operation.

WCSO took part in a similar enforcement effort called “Operation June Bug” on June 25. Operation June Bug resulted in 93 commercial vehicle traffic stops and 24 individuals detained for being unlawfully present in the United States.
