Motorist in critical condition after crashing into HAZMAT semi truck and then shooting themselves

A motorist is in critical condition after crashing their car into a semi truck and then shooting themselves in Utah on Monday evening. 

The incident occurred on May 11th in Toole County, Utah near the Nevada border on Interstate 80. 

According to ABC4, a black SUV crashed into the back of a semi truck hauling HAZMAT material at mile post 4.5 on I-80. The motorist in the SUV then exited his vehicle and shot themselves, according to Utah Highway Patrol. 

The motorist was transported to a hospital in critical condition. No other injuries or health-related updates have been reported. 

UHP reported no HAZMAT issues related to the incident. No further information has been released.
