San Bernardino electric truck stop can now charge almost as many trucks per day as a regular truck stop can fuel

An electric truck stop in San Bernardino can now charge almost as many trucks per day as a regular truck stop can fuel thanks to some recent upgrades.

The WattEV electric semi truck charging depot in San Bernardino, California recently upgraded its system, allowing it to charge as many as 200 electric semi trucks per day. The upgrades also allow for megawatt charging capability – a much faster and more powerful charging option for batteries that are equipped to handle it.

According to Electrek, the upgrades will allow WattEV to serve nearly as many trucks per day as a regular truck stop does.

“WattEV’s vertically integrated approach is what truly sets us apart in the charging and fleet electrification sector,” explained WattEV CEO, Salim Youssefzadeh, in a statement. “That model is now driving measurable results. At our San Bernardino depot, strong and sustained utilization (currently averaging approximately 700 MWh per month) has created the need to more than double the site’s capacity.”

“With the expansion,” Youssefzadeh adds, “we’ve added 30 additional CCS connectors and six MCS connectors, significantly increasing throughput and future-proofing the site for next-generation electric trucks. San Bernardino sits at the center of some of the most freight-dense corridors in the country, and scaling this depot enables us to support real-world fleet growth with reliable charging, dependable operations, and infrastructure designed for long-term, commercial deployment.”

The site now features 30 regular electric semi truck charging spaces and six megawatt charging stations. The company plans to expand its electric truck charging network north into Bakersfield in 2026.
