Truck driver accused of murdering fellow driver over parking dispute waives preliminary hearing

A truck driver accused of running over a fellow driver at a truck stop during a parking dispute is heading to trial after waiving a preliminary hearing.

46-year-old truck driver Travis Briscoe waved his right to a preliminary hearing on Friday, February 13th in Sedgwick County, Kansas.

According to Hays Post, police were called to the Love’s Travel Stop in the 1500 block of East 21st Street North for an injury crash last August. Police arrived to find 57-year-old Abdelmuttalib Mohammed underneath Briscoe’s semi truck. Mohammed was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m.

Investigators discovered that Mohammed had been in a verbal altercation with Briscoe prior to the accident, but the men had never met prior to that incident. During the altercation, Briscoe backed into a parking spot and intentionally ran over Mohammed, according to police.

Briscoe will now face trial for second degree murder charges. He is currently in jail on $150,000 bond.
