U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy shared a short video to highlight the problems caused by shady carriers and unqualified commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders.
The “Tale of Two Truckers” video posted to Duffy’s social media accounts on June 22, 2026, argues that bad actors within the trucking industry make it harder for drivers and carriers who take the time to do things the right way.
The video calls out numerous issues within the trucking industry, including “shady” driver training schools, English Language Proficiency rule violators, chameleon carriers, poor equipment maintenance, and Electronic Log Device tampering.
“Honest Hank vs Problem Pete. RIGHT NOW the Trump Administration is cracking down on the Problem Petes in the trucking industry and paving the way for the Honest Hanks… and safer American roads,” Duffy said.
Since taking on the role of head of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Duffy has pushed for increased enforcement of language proficiency rules, stricter standards for CDL issuance, and more oversight over truck driver training.
