Truck driver dead after semi truck flies off overpass in Florida on Friday.
The accident happened on February 9th in Jacksonville, Florida on Interstate 295 North at Pickettville Road.
According to News4Jax, the semi truck went off the overpass and crashed onto the train tracks below. The 61-year-old truck driver from Willis, Texas was then rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, but the exact cause has not been released.
“It’s an industry track that serves local businesses. Florida Highway Patrol responded and is investigating the incident. CSX personnel are on-site to ensure that they can safely access the scene to conduct their investigation and safely remove the truck. A CSX track team is staged and ready to complete track repairs once the investigation and clean-up is complete,” a CSX spokesperson said.
