A man was shot by police after a crash with a tractor trailer on Interstate 220 ended in violence in Mississippi on Tuesday night.

The incident happened on the evening of October 15th in Jackson, Mississippi.

According to ABC 13, a man in a stolen vehicle collided with a tractor trailer on I-220 near Clinton Boulevard. The motorist then exited his stolen car and opened fire on the trucker. Police were called to the scene and the suspect ran.

Police then chased the man on foot before the suspect eventually fired shots at the officers. One of the officers then shot the suspect in the lower part of his body, ending the chase. No officers were seriously hurt, and no injuries were reported on the part of the truck driver, but the suspect underwent surgery for his injuries on Tuesday night, reported WAPT.
