Three people lost their lives last night when two semis collided on I-80 near Hershey, Nebraska.
According to the Nebraska State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. when an eastbound truck loaded with produce crossed the center median and struck a westbound car hauler head on. The produce truck also hit a passenger vehicle before coming to a stop across the westbound lanes of I-80. The car hauler landed in a ditch.
Both semis caught fire after the crash. One witness reported hearing an explosion.
The two men in the produce truck, driver Hieu Trung Le and his passenger Duy Trong Dao, were killed in the crash. The car hauler driver, Zurabi Mdzeluri, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The person in the passenger vehicle was not injured.
Westbound I-80 was shut down for about 6 hours for investigation and clean up of the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
