Daseke Acquires Two Trucking Companies

Texas-based trucking company Daseke announced that they have acquired two “leading open deck specialized transportation companies.”

One of Daseke’s acquisitions is Schilli Companies, based out of Indiana. The other company is Big Freight Systems Inc., headquartered in Manitoba. These companies had a combined revenue of $119 million in 2016.

From President Don Daseke: ““We’re proud to welcome Schilli and Big Freight, as well as each of their outstanding teams to the Daseke family. Both companies are industry elites in the open deck specialized market, and will bring new dimensions to Daseke’s depth of services and geographic footprint. With the contribution of asset-light revenue, a first-class industrial warehousing operation, a new Midwestern presence, as well as an even stronger presence in the Canadian market, all of Daseke’s family of companies are able to benefit from our synergies and growing scale of operations.

Daseke has been in business since 2009 and became a publicly traded company last year.

Daseke is made up of 11 trucking companies with a combined fleet of over 3,500 trucks and 7,300 open deck specialized trailers. The Daseke “family” of trucking companies now consists of Smokey Point, E.W. Wylie, J. Grady Randolph, Central Oregon Truck Company, Lone Star Transportation, Bulldog Hiway Express, Hornady Transportation, The Boyd Companies – including Boyd Bros. Transportation, WTI Transport, The Schilli Companies and Big Freight Systems.

Schilli was founded in 1961. Big Freight was founded in 1948.
