Con-way Truckload recently announced the rollout of its new tuition reimbursement program in an effort to attract new, professional drivers to work for the company.
The program will contribute up to $4,000 to students attending or enrolling in a professional driving school to earn a commercial driver’s license.
A full-time position at Con-way Truckload will be offered upon graduation. The driver must work at the company for a year before earning back the full $4,000.
“Professional truck drivers are essential to our nation’s economy and with the current driver shortage, we’re looking for more ways to help bring new professionals into the industry,” said Bert Johnson, vice president of human resources at Con-way Truckload.
Con-way Truckload’s previous tuition reimbursement program gave student’s up to $2,000 in tuition support.
In the new program, the company will make the monthly payments on a student’s education loan for the first 12 months of employment. After that, Con-way Truckload will pay the remainder of the tuition in a lump sum.
“By providing a means to pay for education, we’re lowering the barrier to entry and providing jobs for these students right out of school,” Johnson said.
Based in Joplin, Missouri, Con-way Truckload provides dry-van full-truckload transportation services throughout the U.S, Mexico and Canada.
