A truck driver is in critical condition after being shot in the face during a botched robbery attempt.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Jerry’s Foods in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

According to KAAL TV, that earlier that evening, 28-year-old Kelly Anderson had been drinking at a bar.  He left the bar and crashed his car.  He then walked to Jerry’s Foods and happened upon a Grounded Air truck.  Anderson allegedly told police he had intended to steal the truck to drive it home, however, a 58-year-old truck driver was sleeping inside the truck.  Anderson allegedly attacked the unidentified driver and shot him in the face.

The truck driver was found Saturday morning, lying beside his truck in a pool of blood.  He was conscious enough to tell police that he was asleep when Anderson entered his cab and demand his truck, then shot him.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital.  Doctors said the bullet was lodged in the victim’s brain.

Anderson fled the scene on foot.  A Minnesota state trooper found him walking on Highway 169 shortly thereafter.

Anderson was arrested.  He is being held on a $1 million bail.
