A tragic accident in Indiana has claimed the lives of two drivers.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:10 a.m. this morning on Interstate 65, near the Delphi/Lafayette exit.
Investigators are sill piecing together the accident, but at this time, it appears:
*A white J.B. Hunt truck and trailer were pulled off onto the southbound shoulder of the road, because of mechanical issues.
*A red tractor was parked in front of the J.B. Hunt truck.
*The drivers of the two trucks were unhooking the trailer from the J.B. Hunt truck so that they could hook it up to the red tractor.
*Three warning triangles had been placed behind the J.B. Hunt truck.
*A third truck was heading south and struck the back of the J.B. Hunt trailer and the two drivers.
*The third truck continued about 30 yards and came to rest in the ditch.
One driver died at the scene and one driver died at the hospital.
“The impact knocked one of the men onto the hitch area of the red tractor. He died there. The other driver was found lying beside the white rig. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died, Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley said at the scene,” JCOnline reported.
Investigators said they aren’t releasing the names of the deceased drivers, until their families can be notified. Â The driver of the third truck was not injured.
