Illinois trooper makes an interesting observation on car drivers vs. truckers

Published:

For those who think that truck drivers are a danger on American highways, check out this Facebook post from an Illinois State Trooper.

Yesterday Illinois State Police District 10 Pesotum wrote:

A few of my observations during this morning’s commute hours on I-74 between Urbana and Danville. The speed limit is 70 in that area.

Passenger vehicles at speeds of 98, 98, 97, 94, 96, 91, 89, 87, 86, 91, 89, 94 mostly in the left lane.

Truck tractors/semi trailer speeds of 64, 65, 63, 64, 66, 70, 65, 65, 70, 64 mostly in the right lane.

These are merely observations….I will let you make your own assumptions about what some of the primary causes of crashes on that stretch are. I’ll give you one clue…..

Who Is Making Highways Unsafe? Not The Truckers, Says Trooper

The trooper went on to praise the truckers for safe driving.

Many truck drivers have already taken to Facebook to thank the ISP District 10 for the shout out.

Others did point out that many truckers out there couldn’t break the speed limit if they wanted to, which is a fair point. Still, you have to admit that it’s nice to see someone take notice of professional drivers in a positive light.
