Unoccupied semi truck kills pedestrian, hits power poles and house

An elderly woman was killed in Texas yesterday when she was hit by a semi truck with no driver inside.

The fatal accident occurred around 2 p.m. yesterday on US 175 in Frankston, Texas, according to local news station East Texas Matters.

Frankston police say that a truck parked at the Valero gas station started rolling down the hill for unknown reasons. The truck reportedly hit a power pole, then a woman on foot, then another power pole. The truck came to a stop after it crashed into a house.

The woman died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released. Witnesses say that she was walking to the nearby Dairy Queen restaurant when she was hit by the truck.

The home only sustained minor damage in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety will be joining the Frankston Police Department in their investigation into the incident.

No charges have been filed at this time and the name of the driver of the truck and the trucking company involved have not yet been released.
