A man was fatally struck by a semi truck in Indiana on Wednesday night after an incident with another vehicle that ended in him stealing a car.

The series of events happened on June 2nd at around 9:20 p.m. in Bartholomew County, Indiana.

According to Fox 59 News, police were on their way to the first crash when they received reports that one of the people involved in the incident had stolen a car from a bystander and fled the scene.

That person then drove away but crashed the stolen car just a half mile from the scene of the crash and once again fled the scene; this time crossing the median, jumping over a cable barrier and running into oncoming traffic, where he was struck by a semi truck that was unable to stop.

The man has been identified as 39-year-old Cordell Jackson Jr.

The truck driver submitted to a blood test for substances, but is not suspected to have been under the influence at the time of the incident.

Police are still investigating the reason why Jackson chose to run into oncoming traffic.
