Man sneaks beneath stopped semi truck in successful suicide attempt

Published:

A man committed suicide by crawling beneath a semi truck stopped at a red light in St. Louis over the weekend.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 26th at around 5 p.m.

According to STL Today, a semi truck was stopped at a red light at the Lafayette Avenue and South Seventh Street intersection when a man snuck behind the rig and crawled beneath the rear axles in an apparent suicide attempt.

Police say that the truck driver was unaware the man had situated himself beneath the rig and inadvertently ran over the man when the light turned green. Police also say that the rig did not stop, likely because the driver did not realize what had happened.

The trucker, a 55-year-old-man, was located later. The man killed in the incident has not yet been identified, but was pronounced dead on scene.
