Texas police say that a man was killed at a Dallas gas station last week when he was shot by a truck driver during a robbery attempt.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, at a Fuel City Friendly gas station located in northwest Dallas, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.

Police were called to the gas station for a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 27 year old Jamarcious Hill in the parking lot, injured from several gunshot wounds.

Hill was transported to the hospital and later died from his injuries.

Following an investigation, police learned that Hill had gone into a semi truck and had taken items.

When the truck driver confronted Hill, Hill allegedly pulled out a weapon. Police did not specify the type of weapon.

The truck driver then opened fire on Hill.

Officers interviewed the truck driver and released him. His identity has not been released.

The case will be referred to the Dallas County grand jury.
