A truck driver has been cited after striking a 13-year-old exiting a school bus in Maine earlier this week.
The Maine Department of Public Safety says that the truck driver came around a corner, didn’t yield to the school bus, tried to stop but locked his brakes, and then swerved to the left, where he struck a 13-year-old exiting the bus. They have released a diagram to show what happened.
Investigators say that the bus lights and stop sign were activated at the time of the crash. The teenager is currently in the hospital recovering from surgery, reported WGME News.
The truck driver has been issued a citation for the incident. The details of the citation are not clear.
