Teen faces homicide charge for unsafe lane change that sent semi crashing into house

A teenage driver is facing a felony charge connected to a semi truck vs. structure crash that killed a truck driver in Texas in late June.

Eighteen year old Jose Osvaldo Sanchez turned himself into police custody after being released from the hospital, My RGV reports.

The teen has been charged with negligent homicide for an unsafe lane change that caused a crash that left semi truck driver Anastacio Martinez Jr., 51, dead in Mission, Texas, on June 29, 2024.

Around 9 a.m., Martinez was traveling on W. Expressway 83 when he lost control due to the lane change and veered off the roadway, then crashed through a business parking lot, hit a pickup truck, then crashed into an unoccupied home.

Sanchez was driving a Fiat when the crash occurred. He was hospitalized following the crash.

Martinez passed away at the scene. No one else was hurt.

The house collapsed when the truck was removed from the structure.
