Authorities at a Texas border crossing recently seized millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine from a semi truck hauling papayas.
The drug seizure took place on May 9 at the Pharr International Bridge in Pharr, Texas.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers referred a semi truck hauling a commercial shipment of papayas for an additional inspection using a non-intrusive inspection system and CBP canines.
During a subsequent physical search, officers discovered 369 packages containing a total of 606 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $5,419,700.
CBP seized the methamphetamine.
The case was handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
