Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1862, and was originally called Decoration Day. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of those who have given their lives to serve our country and a day of thanks to those currently fighting for our freedom.

The tradition of Memorial Day is to lay flowers on the graves of those who have given their lives, fly the nation’s flag and thank a veteran or soldier, but also a time for us to remember that freedom doesn’t come free. On this Memorial Day and every other day, we thank you, veterans and soldiers for all the sacrifices you’ve made.
