A man was killed and his father injured in an industrial accident in Port Arthur, Texas, on Friday.
A father and son were inside of a tanker cleaning out residue of a flammable liquid NOS at Free Flow Services when another employee realized that he hadn’t seen the two men for some time. When that employee went to check on the men, he saw that they were both in the tank and contacted rescue crews around 10 a.m.
Firefighters say that the father was conscious and that they were immediately able to get him out of the tank.
Crews had to wait for the air inside the tank to clear before they could enter to extract the son around 1 p.m.
Both the father and son were transported to the hospital, where the son was later pronounced dead. The father’s condition is unknown.
The cause of the man’s death is still under investigation.
