Trucker rescues homeless three-legged dog that no one wanted

Published:

A homeless dog missing her leg is getting a new lease on life as the furry co-pilot and companion to an over the road truck driver.

The pup’s journey to her forever home began on March 30, when she mysteriously appeared in the yard of Greenwood, South Carolina animal shelter manager Karen Pettay. According to WYFF4, it was obvious that the dog had recently had one of her rear legs amputated.

The dog was taken to the shelter and named Lola, but she didn’t have a microchip and no one came forward to claim her, in spite of news stories, a viral Facebook post, and more than a month of searching.

After making every effort to find Lola’s owners, the shelter put her up for adoption.

That’s where new trucker dad came in and offered to give Lola a second chance — as a traveling dog.

The animal shelter housing Lola posted:

…yesterday, lovely Lola went to her new forever home. And what a life she is going to have! Lola is about to embark on an adventure that will take her all over the country, as she is going to be traveling with her new dad, who is a long haul trucker! Because of her sparkling personality and unique appearance, this sweet girl is sure to be a hit no matter where she goes. We are so happy for her and her new family! Safe travels, Lola. We look forward to updates from the road!
