Can you help me pass the CDL written test?

Can I take the practice test online?

I already failed the knowledge test. How can I pass it next time?

Here at CDLLife, we hear these questions over and over again. And we get it! The tests you have to take to earn your CDL can be daunting, especially if you’re not sure how to study.

That’s why our interest was piqued when we came across CDL Premium, an online learning tool from Driving-Tests.org that comes with a pretty major guarantee — the company simply says that you either get a passing grade on your CDL knowledge test or you get your money back. So we decided to give it a whirl.

At first glance, the study tool has an intuitive interface and is tailored for the state where you’ll be taking your exam. It isn’t intimidating and it’s quick to get started — it feels more like a low-key computer game than a rigorous study guide.

Users are guided toward several testing modules and practice tests for General Knowledge, Hazmat (for those who want to add the endorsement), School Bus, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles, Double and Triple Trailers, Tanker Vehicles, and Pre-Trip Inspection. You can select Easy, Hard, or Exam Simulator modes.

Once inside your chosen testing module, you are presented with a series of multiple choice questions. If you get stumped, you can ask for a hint. And if you guess wrong, CDL Premium explains exactly why you chose the incorrect answer.

All of your missed questions are saved in the “Challenge Bank” so that you can return to them later and give them extra attention.

There are other helpful features in the testing modules, including Night Mode and a Voice-over option that reads the question and answers aloud to you — a feature that could be really helpful for auditory learners.

And if you prefer, there’s an alternative “flash card” mode you can use to review the questions.

The CDL Premium tool also allows you to keep track of your next scheduled DMV exam and a widget at the top of the screen keeps you on task by estimating your currently probability of passing your exam based on your performance (this can be humbling). Users can easily access their state’s CDL handbook online through CDL Premium for additional study.

While the product would definitely be a big help for new drivers entering the trucking industry, experienced drivers who want to add endorsements like Hazmat could also benefit. The company also offers similar online learning tools for passenger vehicle and motorcycle licensing tests, which could be useful for CDL drivers or their family members.

Here’s what social media users have to say about Driving-Tests.org.

Even the free version of this test is amazing. I was able to pass the CLP and the airbrake test on my first try after only going through the tests twice!
