Published:

Texas police say that they have a suspect in custody following a police pursuit and an hours-long standoff.

The incident began around 10 a.m. on Friday when police attempted to pull over a semi truck hauling a flatbed trailer in Jack County, Texas, after it was reported as a reckless driver, according to News Channel 6.

The suspect refused to stop for police and led officers on a pursuit through Jack and Archer Counties and into Baylor County.

Police say that they used spike strips to disable the truck, causing it to go off Highway 114 near Seymour.

The suspect refused to exit the truck and an hours-long standoff ensued. The Texas Rangers attempted to negotiate with the suspect. The Abilene Bomb Squad responded to the scene after the suspect claimed he had a bomb.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

It isn’t clear whether anyone was injured.

A bystander was able to capture video of part of the pursuit, which you can see below.

The incident is still under investigation. This is a developing story.
