Trucker killed avoiding pickup that ignored red light

Published:

A truck driver was killed while avoiding a reckless pickup in Texas on Monday.

The accident happened on May 10th on FM 787 in Liberty County.

According to Bluebonnet News, the trucker was heading east on FM 787 when a white Ford pickup allegedly ignored a red light and drove into the path of the oncoming semi truck with a green light.

After realizing what the pickup was doing, the truck driver immediately took evasive action to avoid a head-on crash with the pickup and swerved south. The truck then went over the guardrail of the bridge and landed on the construction below, not far from the Trinity River. The pickup driver did not stop for the wreck.

The 51-year-old unidentified truck driver was critically injured in the wreck and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he passed away.

Police have not yet identified the pickup driver, and no arrests have been made.
