Family looking for help after trucker survives being crushed by load

Published:

An owner/operator’s family is looking for help after the driver was crushed by a load of posts while strapping it down.

The accident happened on August 12th in Plains, Montana.

Trucker Steve Blanchard was strapping down a section of his load of posts when the load suddenly gave way and fell on top of him. Blanchard was crushed by the load and was even pushed beneath the trailer.

“He was loading a regular load of posts that he has done countless times. Unfortunately, as he was strapping down this specific section of posts, something went wrong and they fell off of the trailer, hit and crushed him which resulted in him being thrown under the trailer where he was found laying shortly after,” wrote Steve’s son Dustin Blanchard on their GoFundMe page

Blanchard was rushed to the hospital after witnesses called 911 where it was determined that he sustained a shattered femur, fractured tibia, compound fracture above his right ankle, a fractured C7 vertebrae, two fractured ribs, and a wound on the top of his head.

Now, Blanchard’s family is asking for support as Steve works to recover.

“As a self-employed truck driver unable to work, the devastation to his livelihood with enormous medical bills is staggering,” Dustin continued.

“I’m making this post with the hopes that we can share this and help relieve as much of the financial side of things from the upcoming medical bills as we possibly can as our family insurance will only help with a small amount of the expenses. Steve has been a workhorse his whole life and has always been there for anybody that’s ever needed him for anything without batting an eye or without ever asking for anything in return and we want to return that favor and go above and beyond for my Dad in every way possible.”
