Officials hunting for big rig hauling damaged mobile home after driver flees bridge strike

Published:

A truck driver fled the scene after striking a bridge while hauling a mobile home in California on Monday evening.

The incident happened on May 2nd on southbound Interstate 5 in Sun Valley, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the semi truck hauling a mobile home struck an overpass along I-5 south, causing the roof of the home to peel off and scattering debris all over the roadway. At least one car traveling behind the rig was damaged by the debris.

Authorities report that the truck driver continued driving, despite the impact and damage to the bridge and mobile home. California Highway Patrol officers are now searching for the truck hauling a mobile home without a roof.

The overpass was visibly damaged in the incident, and CalTrans officials will soon inspect the bridge to evaluate its structural integrity. No further information has been released.
