WATCH: Truck driver stops to help Florida state trooper being attacked by suspect along I-4

Published:

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says that multiple Good Samaritans stopped to come to the aid of a state trooper who was struggling to subdue a suspect along an interstate on Friday.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on March 18 along I-4 in Tampa.

Trooper Jonathan Ruiz spotted Alexander Hernandez-Delgado, 24, walking along the left shoulder of the interstate and stopped to make contact.

According to several reports, when Ruiz asked Hernandez-Delgado for his identification, Hernandez-Delgado struck Ruiz in the face and tried to flee, striking Ruiz several more times.

In dash cam video shared by the Florida Highway Patrol, you can see a truck driver appears to be one of the first of several Good Samaritans who stop to assist Ruiz.

Hernandez-Delgado was reportedly booked on charges of battery on an officer and violently resisting law enforcement.

Ruiz suffered a bloody nose during the altercation.

“Thank you to all of the Good Samaritans who stopped yesterday, in both direction of Interstate 4, to assist our Trooper!!” FHP’s Tampa division said.
