Our Story

Border States is one of the largest 100% employee-owned companies in the United States, and each employee-owner has a real stake in our long-term success. Employee-ownership drives our commitment to delivering total satisfaction, and each of us is empowered to exceed customer expectations.

Border States was founded in 1952, when two entrepreneurs in Grand Forks, North Dakota, wanted to serve the electric utility industry. Today, we provide quality products, material management solutions and industry expertise to tens of thousands of customers in the construction, industrial and utility markets.
