Summer Gear Recommendations For Truck Drivers

Published:

The weather is heating up, and summer is just around the corner.  Here are some great items to help you beat the heat and stay cool and comfortable this summer.

-Bug spray- Bug bites are itchy, uncomfortable and can be dangerous.  Make sure you have plenty of bug spray on hand.  Try our chemical-free, homemade bug repellent.

-Sunblock- Just because you’re not sitting out in the sun, doesn’t mean you aren’t being exposed to a lot of UV rays that are coming through your truck’s windows.  Make sure to apply sunscreen daily!

Water Jug It’s important to stay hydrated year around, but it’s especially important if you’re going to be doing a lot of sweating.  Always have a water jug (2-5 gallons)  full of water on hand– you never know when it might come in handy.

Cooling Scarf-Placing a cool cloth around your neck will cool you down very quickly when you’re hot.  If you’re feeling overheated, place a cold bottle of water under your arms, under your knees or on you neck.  Keep a cooling scarf on hand for those hot days!

Battery-Operated Fan– A battery-operated fan is great to have on hand.  They’re inexpensive and easy to store.

Portable Air Conditioner– Should your APU ever fail, or you’re in a state where you can’t idle, a portable AC can be an invaluable tool. A portable AC is not a small investment ($479), but it could literally save your life.

Moisture Wicking Clothing– Look for lightweight, light colored, moisture wicking clothing.  Moisture wicking clothing is breathable and helps keep you cool.  Avoid cottons and wool– synthetic material is your best bet.
