Span of Louisiana I-610 Closed For Construction

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces a weekend closure for Interstate 610, in both the eastbound and westbound directions, for the start of construction activity on a $6.3 million rehabilitation project to improve the condition of the existing roadway, drainage and signing in the area. Interstate 10 will be the alternate route for both directions, during the closure.

  • Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m. to Monday, June 10 at 5:30 a.m., the entire limits of I-610 westbound will be closed from I-10 West (near Franklin Avenue) to I-10 West (near Pontchartrain Boulevard).  All traffic will be diverted to I-10 westbound.
  • Friday, June 7 at 10:30 p.m. to Monday, June 10 at 5a.m., I-610 eastbound will be closed from I-10 East (near West EndBoulevard) to the entrance ramp at Gentilly Boulevard. All traffic will be diverted to I-10 eastbound; eastbound I-610 will only be accessible from Gentilly Blvd., N. Broad Street, and Elysian Fields Avenue entrance ramps heading towards eastbound I-10.

During the closure, contractor Barriere Construction Co. LLC will perform concrete roadway patching. Additionally, during the closure, DOTD crews will perform routine roadway maintenance including cleaning drains, pressure washing and painting, and an ongoing $6.5 million project to upgrade signage will continue.
