According to KOAA News 5 in Denver, multiple pileups claimed the life of one and injured 20 others.
The pileup occurred this morning on Interstate 25 in Denver.
The Saturday morning crash shut down the interstate. Â The Colorado Department of Transportation reports that the crash involving more than 20 vehicles occurred near Downing Street. A separate crash, involving 25-plus vehicles occurred at I-25 and University.
“Denver police said 104 vehicles were involved in a string of accidents between Logan Street and University Boulevard that occurred as a heavy band of snow moved through town about 11 a.m.,” the Denver Post reported.
Freezing fog is said to have coated the roads in a thin layer of ice.
