Truckers Stage Noisy Protest Convoy At Rhode Island State House

Published:

Almost 60 truckers came together on Thursday afternoon to circle the Rhode Island State House with their trucks in a loud show of opposition against Governor Gina Raimondo’s truck-only toll plan.

Raimondo needs hundreds of millions to repair Rhode Island’s crumbling bridges and roads and says that tolling only truck drivers is fair because they are the ones doing the most damage.

Truckers from Rhode Island and Massachusetts circled the area around the State House, honking their horns and flashing their lights to protest the Governor’s toll proposal. The State House is where the toll proposal is set to be introduced before the end of winter 2016.

The protest was organized by the organization Rhode Island Independent Contractors & Associates.
