U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently seized a staggering amount of illegal drugs from a commercial vehicle arriving into the U.S. from Mexico.
The drugs were seized on Thursday, September 23, at the Eagle Pass Camino Real Cargo Facility located in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Officers encountered a 2010 Freightliner tractor hauling an empty box trailer arriving from Mexico.
The truck was referred for a secondary inspection via canine unit, a non-intrusive imaging system, and then a physical inspection.
Officers discovered 1,221 pounds of suspected methamphetamine within the walls of the trailer.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $24,426,968.
CBP seized the drugs, truck, and trailer.
“Although anti-terrorism is our primary mission, CBP officers continue to maintain their vigilance to ensure commercial entries are safe and free of contraband, as this narcotics seizure illustrates,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
