First Lady thanks truck drivers who are ‘working to save lives’ amid pandemic

Published:

In a White House farewell speech on Monday, First Lady Melania Trump took a moment to thank the men and women of the trucking industry for their efforts to keep the country running during the COVID-19 crisis.

On Monday, January 18, Melania Trump posted a seven minute video to Twitter during which she gave thanks to front-line workers — including truck drivers — for their selfless efforts during the pandemic.

“As the world continues to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, I thank all of the nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals, manufacturing workers, truck drivers, and so many others who are working to save lives. We grieve for the families who have lost a loved one due to the pandemic. In the midst of hardship, we have seen the best of America shine through,” the First Lady said.

Donald Trump has often spoken out in favor of the men and women of the trucking industry.

In April 2020, Trump hosted an event on the White House lawn to recognize and praise truck drivers for keeping grocery shelves stocked and keeping the country rolling during the pandemic.
