I-40 in Tennessee shut down for fatal fiery head-on semi crash, per report

Published:

Transportation officials in Tennessee are asking drivers to seek alternate routes following a major crash on I-40 on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on November 23 on I-40 between Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee.

Local outlet WMC reports that two semi trucks collided head-on in the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 44.

It isn’t clear whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

One person was killed in the crash and two others suffered injuries, according to reports.

Westbound I-40 is shut down, causing major traffic backups on a busy holiday travel day. Eastbound traffic has been impacted as well.

This is a developing story.
