Trucker just said yes when migrants “asked for a ride”

Trucker just said yes to giving migrants a “ride” when they approached him asking to hitchhike at a Pilot truck stop.

The truck driver was stopped on February 28th at about 8:20 p.m. at the Interstate 35 checkpoint in Texas.

According to Laredo Morning Times, Reginald Lamon Pace was driving a white semi truck when he arrived at the checkpoint. Once there, he told agents he was a US citizen without being prompted and even moved his tractor trailer before being cleared during his inspection.

Pace stopped his truck when asked, but appeared nervous when asked if he was alone in the truck. A k9 agent then alerted to the possible presence of migrants at the exterior side door of the cab, leading to a closer inspection. Agents then discovered 10 migrants hiding in the cab.

“Pace invoked his right to have an attorney present and not answer questions at the time. However, Pace stated that he stopped at a Pilot gas station and was approached by the individuals in his cab. Pace stated that they asked for a ride, and he agreed to take them.”
