Interstate 70 was shut down for a semi truck wreck that left a rig hanging off of the roadway on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on February 15th on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon between the Dotsero and Glenwood Springs exits in Colorado just after 4 p.m.
According to Post Independent, the truck crashed and overturned, sending its trailer off of the raised roadway. The impact caused the trailer to break open and spill a load of aluminum cans.
“Crews are working to clear the vehicle, which was carrying canned beverages. It is possible crews will be able to reopen the roadway this evening with one lane of traffic in each direction,” CDOT wrote in a release about the incident.
“This will depend on how removal operations go and weather conditions. The scene is being evaluated to see if there was a hazardous materials spill. The only hazardous material identified so far is the diesel used to power the vehicle.”
No injuries have been reported. An exact cause of the crash has not been released.
The road was reopened in both directions by 10:34 p.m. that evening. The wreck marks the second wreck involving a semi truck hanging off of I-70 through Glenwood Canyon in the exact same area in less than a month. Just under three weeks ago, a semi truck overturned on the same stretch of roadway in a wreck that left the cab hanging off of the interstate.
