Two former Ohio weigh stations are now open as truck parking facilities

Published:

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has opened two new truck parking areas as part of a larger project to convert weigh stations into commercial vehicle parking facilities.

On December 3, ODOT announced that “new truck parking is now open in Medina County on I-76 eastbound between SR 3 and SR 57 and in Ashland County on I-71 southbound between SR 539 and U.S. 250.”

The truck parking areas will have spaces for about 18 trucks in addition to any parking on the entrance or exit ramp shoulders. No restrooms will be available.

The new truck parking areas that opened are part of a larger ODOT project to convert 13 weigh stations into truck parking. ODOT has completed 10 of these conversions and will begin work on converting three more locations next year.

Completed weigh station conversion sites include northbound and southbound I-77 south of Bolivar and southbound SR 7 in Jefferson County.
