UPDATE: Trucker called girlfriend’s family, promised to send her home in days before her death

Published:

A truck driver called his girlfriend’s family and told them he was sending her home in the days before her body was found outside of a truck stop, an investigation reveals.

46-year-old Jessica Goodrich was found on October 8th in the woods near Roadie’s Chevron Truck Stop in Woodbine, Georgia just days after her truck driving boyfriend, 47-year-old Jason Palmer, called her family to tell them she was coming home. Goodrich had been traveling with Palmer in his truck and the two had an on-and-off relationship for several years, People reports.

“He told me that he was going to put my sister on a plane and send her back home,” said Goodrich’s sister, Pamela Shays.”He told my nephew that he put my sister in a hotel, and he booked a train ticket for my sister to send her back home.”

Goodrich’s family says she never came home and they stopped hearing from Palmer shortly after that. Palmer was arrested on October 26th while driving through Indiana.

Palmer is facing charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and concealing a body. He is being held without bond until he can be extradited to Georgia.
