Elephants Prevent Truck From Rolling Over

Published:

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, a pair of elephants saved the day by preventing a truck from rolling over.

On Tuesday, March 24, a truck pulled off of Interstate 49 near the Powhatan exit in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, and got stuck in the mud.

“The truck became stuck after the driver pulled off the edge of the soft shoulder.    Recent rains caused the ground off of the shoulder to be soft,” the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The mud was so think, the truck was in danger of rolling over.  The quick-thinking truck driver unloaded his cargo– 2 elephants– to help hold the truck upright.

The sturdy elephants were able to successfully hold the truck in place until a wrecker service could arrive to pull the truck from the mud.

After the truck was freed, the driver, and the elephants, resumed their route to Texas.

“No citations were issued,” the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
