Thousands sign online petition asking FCC to shut down Mud Duck

Published:

More than 4000 people have signed an online petition asking federal regulators to take action against infamous Channel 19 user Mud Duck Radio.

The Change.org petition was started by Christopher Hix on January 27, 2023, but it appears to have picked up steam recently, with more than 400 people signing in the past 24 hours.

The petition calls on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to take action against Mud Duck Radio.

From the petition:

Mud Duck Radio out of New Mexico is blocking up channel 19 on CB radio in all lower 48 states, parts of Canada, and I’d assume Mexico. I have personally heard him everywhere from Washington state, to New Jersey, down to Miami, FL. He does this anywhere from 4-12 hours a day, making people turn off their CB radios.

With Mud Duck forcing people to shut off their radios, it is causing people to not be able to communicate when there are safety hazards on the road ways. Be it suddenly stopped traffic over a hill, a good icy patch on the road ahead, an abrupt no visibility zone, etc. He has become a safety hazard.

We need him shut down, so that we can have safer roadways, and not have someone talking over top of everyone during inclement weather, or other road emergencies.

I have been informed that his name is Mark Sherman, his buisness is called fine tune CB, and he is out of Lordsburg, NM.

The petition currently has 4580 signatures out of a goal of 5000.

See some comments from petition signers below.

  • “I can’t believe the fcc allows this mud duck to dominate the airwaves like this. FCC DO YOUR JOB.”
  • “I believe the safety of our highways is in jeopardy because of this person.”
  • “I’m a truck driver and he ties up channel 19 with his BS when we use that channel to find out about accidents, construction, road conditions, whatever.”
