Iowa State Patrol catches trucker with oversize load on snow covered road

Published:

The Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit (ISPCMVE) is reminding truckers that transporting an oversize load on snow or ice covered roads is not permitted.

In a social media post shared on Tuesday, January 9, ISPCMVE shared photos of an apparent oversized load caught traveling during winter weather, along with a warning: “As a reminder – oversize loads on snow/ice covered roads are PROHIBITED.”

Iowa state law requires that a load moved under a permit, such as an oversize load, “shall be made only when roads are clear of ice and snow and visibility is at least one-quarter mile.”

Iowa is experiencing a major winter storm on Tuesday, resulting in hazardous travel conditions throughout the state.
